Hugh
http://www.autoblog.com/2015/01/29/ford-fiesta-rs-250-hp-awd-rumor/ Just a rumor but not surprised if a concept was discussed and tested for feasibility.
fuzzymoomoo
I wasn't sure if they could cram AWD under that tiny footprint, then I was reminded of the WRC car. If that's the case, please STFU immediately and take my money!
bzcat
My opinion is that Fiesta RS won't have a business case in the US so it will sink or swim on European sales alone... prospect of it is rather dim at the moment.
fuzzymoomoo
I think it will depend on A. How well the focus RS does and B. How well Fiesta ST does. I get the feeling that despite all of the rave reviews the Fiesta ST isn't really selling all that well. I've seen exactly ZERO outside of M-plated test cars. And I've only seen one of those in a caravan.
Deanh
an RS model would probably act as free publicity for the regular ST...in which case I cant see it hurting at all as theoretically it would improve sales of the ST's. Hey, Im putting out approx. 205 right now, and some guys have tweeked the 1.6 to some eyebrow raising numbers ( bigger turbos , flashes etc ) so, drop in a 2.0 turbo from the Focus, go AWD and bingo, 275 with headroom ( mountune has kits for the 2.0 as well. ) I for one would be SERIOUSLY tempted... Deanh
Fuzzy....IMO ford needs to advertise their ST lineup, but right now that's just two vehicles....imagine if they had a Fusion ST, and advertised that lineup along with the Gt350.....think there would be any trickle down interest ( add a cameo of the GT of course )
silvrsvt
If Ford is making $$$ on the current sales of ST models, why worry? Its not like its a huge market, just that it seems like its more airtime from magazines etc...
Deanh
@silvr.....it will come, I FULLY expect some Ford Performance advertisements airing soon...because the product IS coming...in 12 different variants.....

I've been seeing more of them driving around too. I do wonder how many of those were bought since the end of model year fire sale started though
Deanh
interestingly enough when we tracked both the STs most preferred the Fiesta, talk about tossable, although I DO understand that they took everything they learned from the Focus ST and then upped the game on the Fiesta variant. Remains to be seen if the improvements will be implemented in the 2015 Focus ST, I would have to believe so.
jpd80
Fiesta inventory is mounting up, over 20,000 cars at the moment.
akirby
Fiesta inventory is mounting up, over 20,000 cars at the moment. Not possible. The B car market is about to EXPLODE in North America! Didn't you guys get the memo?

Edstock
Toyota confirmed today that it will return to the FIA World Rally Championship with a Yaris World Rally Car in 2017. So now there's Toyota and VW and Ford . . . With AWD an essential in WRC, this might help Ford commit to an AWD RS Fiesta. While WRC isn't that big in North America, the Rest-of-the-World market may be sufficient, IMHO.
akirby
Why fiesta not focus?
Edstock
Why fiesta not focus? Because the WRC is B-size specific, IIRC, because it's ROW-oriented, where people drive B-size, instead of Hemis. Fortunately, Ford makes a 2-dr Fiesta to compete with the 2-dr hatches from the competition. http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/teams/page/18-94---.html

Edstock
When did that start? Ford used to run the mk1 focus hatch in WRC Something like 2-3 years ago, maybe 4 years, now, but I could be mistaken.
akirby
Looks like it happened in 2011. I thought they were still running Focii.

Prior to that, ford hadn't been running anything since around 03-
Edstock
Isn't the Fiesta due for a new top hat? Anybody know when? Just wondering if the next re-do would be the time for an RS and AWD?
