geronimo183
Just read on Autocar that the Mondeo will now not arrive until April. Most of what has been published in the British motoring press has indicated that the Mondeo was to be launched first thing in the new year. By the time we do get it, it will be out of date…….This will make it easier for the New Passat to kick its ass. Ford are really missing the boat on this one and to think that Ford are under the impression that they can steal sales from BMW and Audi with their Vignale brand is pie in the sky. I can't see the residual values doing well on a Mondeo Vignale. The X-Type Jaguar never did any favours for Ford, I can't see Vignale doing that either….any thoughts? akirby
The only thing lost is maybe sales in the interim - it certainly won't hurt sales after it's launched. Don't you think if it was possible to launch it sooner that they would have?
ehaase
Isn't the new Fusion/Mondeo too big for Europe?
akirby
Isn't the new Fusion/Mondeo too big for Europe? it's the same size as the current Mondeo.....
silvrsvt
What's the point of selling a product in a market that has seen a worse economy then it had during the Great Depression in the 1930s?
RichardJensen
I think that's part of the reason why Ford is not refitting Valencia with the same sort of urgency brought to Dearborn Truck
jpd80
Once Genk closes, a lot of the cost bleeding will stop. Larger vehicles like mondeo, S-max and Galaxy are of less impact in Europe but are still important when global sales are added to the tally. Controlling costs is the primary target as is maximizing incremental production for rest of world markets. Something GM must get on top of with Opel if it is ever going to see a proper and genuine turnaround in business outcome there.
bzcat
Ford is launching Mondeo with hybrid option (and later the Energi version) in Europe... which will be the first large non-luxury brand car in Europe to have hybrid option. Should be interesting to follow to see if hybrid cars will actually make an dent in the fleet market in Europe. However, Mondeo hybrid is only available as a sedan, in a market that favors hatch and wagon... something Ford will have to fix ASAP.
