Is a Window Sticker Ever Wrong - Navigation

We just entered the Ford universe with a 2013 Fusion SE for my wife. Bought it at a good local dealer. It was a Ford "reacquired" vehicle with only about 11,000 miles on it. Reacquired due to multiple oil leaks, but Ford finally replaced the motor, and that was good enough for me, so now my wife has it & is enjoying it. It is really nice, very comfy & well equipped.

Now here's the weirdest thing: The original window sticker http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=3FA6P0HR8DR198718 indicates that it has the $795 Navigation option. However the car does NOT have navigation. The MyTouch screen upper right tab says "Information" instead of "Navigation", and the dealer says that it just doesn't have navigation.

So, is a window sticker ever wrong? Is it possible that the navigation just needs to be activated somehow?

The day after taking delivery we took a 5 day trip, part of which skirted New York City, and I'll tell you what, the 8" Nav screen would have been really cool instead of holding on to my phone to follow GoogleMaps!

Anyone have knowledge on this? Thanks in advance.

jeff

The window stickers aren't wrong about how it left the factory. This may seem like a silly question, but did you check the VIN number to make sure it matches the window sticker?

Did it come with a bumper to bumper warranty? If so that's a defect for sure (if the VIN matches).

The sticker shouldn't be wrong, if indeed that is the correct sticker. PM me your VIN and I can see what it should have. Since its a used car, the nav card may be missing, or there is something else going on.

I can't PM because I'm a newbie....must have 5 posts to PM. Here's the VIN anyway. I think it's on the window sticker as well.

Purchased at a reputable Ford dealer, still has lots of warranyt left

Yep, that's the VIN. And it has lots of warranty left.

It certainly sounds like the module that unlocks the navigation may have been replaced and not reprogrammed for the vehicle vin and options. That's the only explanation I can come up with, but as long as it has a factory warranty they should be able to fix it.

Appears that your vehicle as per the VIN you posted above, has some upgrades available.

Ask you service department to check these items.

1. PCM - Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Install a new Module | Software Updates | Service Functions

2. ABS - Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module

Service Functions
3. IPC - Service Functions PC Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
Service Functions

The list of modules on the left are known to be installed on this vehicle. For each module listed, the possible actions are displayed. Actions are categorised as:

Install a new Module

Use this action if you are installing a new module. This action will only support new modules which have not previously been installed.

Software Updates

Use this action to see what software updates are available for the selected module for this vehicle.

Service Functions

Selection of this action displays the service functions which are applicable to your vehicle and software level.

So now your approach is: The window sticker says that it has navigation, the A4 map card is in place, FIX IT.

Well nobody wants to be a PITA (well I don't anyway), but I do think that it should be on there & working. I am choking on the dealer saying that the window sticker is wrong, but I suppose it is remotely possible. They are going to try to get it working on Monday

Well oddly, it doesn't say NAV on the Oasis main page. However, it does list it in HVBoM. So it should have it. Is the card installed in till you hear it 'click' in with the sticker UP? Does the rest of the media hub work?

It is possible, when it was reprogrammed in November '13 that it was done incorrectly and NAV was deleted accidentally. If so, the dealer has to contact Ford to get it put back on their server, so that they can properly reinstall NAV. This can take up to a week as they are VERY slow to update the servers with the right info.

Yes the SD is clicked in label up. I connected my Moto-X android phone through the usb cable & it does play mp3 music files, but it is rather slow to find & index them. I don't have anything to check the other media hub ports. It also has someone else's media devices listed on one of the screens, so apparently never properly cleaned up. I think you are probably right about an incorrect reprogramming. Supposed to go to the dealer Monday, but I will have this conversation with him first, may save a trip to the waiting room. Thanks for the help!

PS: HVBoM is what, something Bill of Material? How does a neophyte get one? I guess that's what Mercedes calls a Vehicle Master. The parts guys used to print you one if you asked.

You could try a Master Reset of the MFT system. I think it's under Settings->System->Master Reset.

Gave that a try, thanks for the idea, but no joy. Ford has gotten involved in a very positive way & I'm confident that they will resolve the issue. We even have a case number now.

You guys are all great! Thanks to each for shedding light on this issue for me. The information, the links to Ford data sites, and the encouragement. I have come to the right place.

I will post updates as the situation develops.

Thanks to Everyone
