RichardJensen
If they are building 120k a year of them at Wayne, say goodbye to C-max. I think that's implied. But I expect this vehicle will be pretty much C-Max sized, and will be built on the same architecture as the C-Max.
OHV 16V
If they are building 120k a year of them at Wayne, say goodbye to C-max. Probably a good move anyway. I'm not sure the C-Max will ever shake the stigma from having its ratings lowered. That's the first thing people bring up when you mention the vehicle, at least in my experience. YT90SC
Its really too bad. C-max is the best value that Ford has.
GaryG
The C-Max Energi is a great vehicle for the future, the C-Max Hybrid will bite the dust with all non plug-in hybrids. The Prius plug-in is a POS with only 11 miles of EV range. I go an average of 30 miles in EV on a single charge in my Energi, and have a lifetime 440mpg as of today. Just ordered a '15 Energi for my Son. Gary
akirby
Why do hypermilers feel compelled to quote their lifetime mpg in every single conversation? (rhetorical question) This is what the U.S. C-max was intended to be anyway. If they can match the Prius mpg it should do fine.
sullynd
The Prius is to hybrids what the F150 is to trucks. The C-Max (non-Energi) is a Nissan Titan. "If they can match the Prius MPG" it'll be a Silverado. Ford can do better, but cannot pull a GM and not look beyond the current Prius. Yeah, I have the distinct feeling that hybrids will eventually replace stop-start and become standard equipment expected by retail buyers. silvrsvt
IMO The C-Max is nothing more then an Escape with lower ground clearance...They are just about identical in the interior department and share the same greenhouse. As for this new Hybrid, I think its a given due to the increase in CAFE ratings going forward...and this product will replace the C-Max... Yeah, I'm guessing we'll probably see better battery packaging with a purpose built hybrid so that we don't have the battery shelf like the current C-Max. I really hope that Ford will put more effort ($) into the packaging of the battery in this new model; the current band aid approach is inadequate. That's one big reason to develop a hybrid only vehicle. Using an existing vehicle does have advantages though. A lot of folks bought fusion hybrids and wouldn't consider a Prius or cmax. GaryG
Why do hypermilers feel compelled to quote their lifetime mpg in every single conversation? (rhetorical question) This is what the U.S. C-max was intended to be anyway. If they can match the Prius mpg it should do fine. Lifetime MPG, MPGe, and Brake Score (Regen) tells the true capability of a vehicle and the driver. My '09 Ford Escape Hybrid had a lifetime 53.9mpg at 30,000 miles when I sold it for the C-Max Energi. I now have more than 8X that MPG with my Energi driving the same roads much faster with the A/C. Ford installed Lifetime MPG, MPGe and Brake Score gauges in my '13 C-Max, ask them. Ford also developed My Ford Mobile to compare everyone's C-Max and Fusion Energi score to one another in their region. Hypermilers have been comparing lifetime MPG to one another for years because it shows a pattern of every tank, not just a trip. People have all ready started selling their Prius and C-Max Hybrids for the Energi. I sold my '05 and '09 FEH's for the same reasons. It was a no brainier when you compare 53.9mpg to 440mpg. At this rate, I should be at a lifetime 1,000 MPG at 20,000 miles in my Energi. Gary
