MI451
Leduff is an ass. I wish Jimmy would have put a beat down on him. At least that would be Settles decision I could get behind. Edited June 19, 2014 by MI451
wildosvt
Charlie DeBluff is a bait and switch guy. I cannot stand him. Jimmy should of given him the cold shoulder. Then again, I cannot stand Fox 2.

So you better take heed you bumbling fool cause your out of touch with the membership. to frank!! who the hell isn't downtown. union membership is not be allowed to vote for the big issues, like our president, etc.... they want us to vote democratic but we (union) live the socialist life (in the union) vote as we tell you, we know whats in your best interest... do what we say not what we do! not sure how we can change, many unhappy members. need new people up top, but we (union) have NO say as to who holds these positions, that sounds very UNDEMOCRATIC!!! littlecountry
At contract time they do nothing but listen to what the Company wants and not what the employees wants. And now we gotta pay more per month for this kinda service!
Fatso
Who is behind the protest and why?Jimmy Settles could have handled the situation more calmly instead of confronting the reporter but nobody is perfect.
Pioneer
3 things I took from that video. Settles is a thug. All he wanted to do is intimidate people by stepping into them and getting loud. 350 people at International making 100k+? Seriously? Why no cutbacks there? The workers from Chattanooga and the guy in the white shirt have a point. What can our union offer other workers that they don't already have? We have given back in the past three contracts and our representatives take more from us every month without asking our opinion. Then they go back on their promise that all additional income goes directly to the strike fund. Next contract will be interesting for sure. Nobody wants to leave the union in Michigan when our right to work option kicks in? You sure about that Jimmy?

The people actually paying the dues I think otherwise.

I didn't like the piece he did on the Volkswagen organizing and he seems like the run your mouth and hide behind the camera's type. Maybe Chuck and jimmy could step out back and handle things. I'd pay to see it.

cal50
my problem was how the questions are asked, typical republican banter, get real! With no answers to any of them. At least one of them did their homework and had some points of contention. ( Not Jimmy ) Jimmy looked clueless and he is not an actor but nailed it.
dark270
true, but in that atmosphere that i saw, and watched, none of them were looking for answers. two reasons u ask a question, either u want an answer or ur askin to start a controversy. i hardly believe that any of them WANTED an answer, and that is not how u get a legit question answered. as far as your opinions, they are noted, but very questionable at best..... i also know u have a ulterior motive in this, so that also comes into play. When you attend or are part of a public demonstration you should expect the media to take photographs & video and ask questions. When you behave badly or have no answers to reasonable questions it makes your position appear weak and ill informed. I never met Settles and know nothing of the man personally but his lack of professionalism , in public , made him and the demonstration look bad. Public PR is an art and people that can not pull it off should work behind the scenes rather than look a fool publicly . My only "motive" is that my dues is funding the things that come out of his mouth or his embarrassing behavior in public. Good luck in that inspiring the organizing of any new members. dark270
again, your ideas seem a bit skewed in a certain direction...he was not part of the public demonstation, looks like he was trying to talk to a few of the members there demonstrating against him(hostile area) so even if the questions seem legit, maybe they are, however cause of the area, and how they are asked, doesnt reflect a good 'reasonable' atmosphere to answer ANY question. i stand by what i said earlier u have other motives at work here. i know this. i have met settles, but my opinion is irrelevent. and so is yours. the media tend to slant things either right or left, or how they want to, this is a typical slant(against anything the union say/does) uaw's image, ways of doing things, must change. i agree with this, even more co-operation is needed with the company. change in the laws is also needed. europe is a good example, where unions and companies have a good balance together(more in Germany, however is some other areas also) for us to go back to the stand off ways of 1960, is a backward move, and wont get us anywhere. RougeWelder
Jimmy settles agreed to a side deal for two tier trades at flat rock. ....really? Could you elaborate......trades 2nd tier pay/benefits? I have not heard about that but nothing they do suprises me anymore. It is obvious that union leadership is out for themselves now. I asked one of them a question when they came around the plant. "When the unions foundation was built on the idea that United we stand, divided we fall.....why did they divide us with tier 1 and tier 2 workers?" What I got was some energized politi-speak which danced around the question. I am starting to think that Bob King and his cronies are company guys planted into the union heirarchy 30 some years ago.:)
cal50
I doubt the union would have even considered 2nd tier wages except that they (2nd tier) pay union dues then they waved it thru. So much for equal pay for equal work. Any 2nd tier IUAW people ??????
