alpinedaddy
Hi, new to the group so im not sure if its been brought up before. Sorry if it has. My truck all of a sudden started running like crap. Hesitating like mad when I would try to accelerate. Even at 50 if I hit the gas, this will happen.. Took it to the dealer and was told it needed a $600 tune up. Couldn't afford that. So I took it home and had a buddy help me change the plugs and check the cops.luckily not one plug broke and we found one bad cop. Guess that's an issue with older f-150s. Well, it ran awesome for a few days. Now it seems ro be hesitating a lot again. Anyone have any ideas? No codes are being thrown either. Thanks
xr7g428
Probably another COP failing. The thing to do is to replace them all when one starts failing it seems like they all start to fail. Also, what plugs did you use?
alpinedaddy
I used the motorcraft sp-515 plugs. And the one cop I replaced was the dg-511. So I should replace the other 7 cops?
xr7g428
That is what i ended up doing. You might want to verify that they all seated correctly too. The ones in the back are a little tough to get to.
alpinedaddy
I'll go ahead and order the new ones today. Thanks for the advice. The back ones are a pain in all regards!! I'll post once I get them in if it resolved the issue. Fingers crossed
alpinedaddy
Forgot about this post... lol.. I replaced all 8 cops and it fixed the crappy idle and 95% of hesitation. Now it only hesitates at times right after start up.
