Temp Workers from Manpower

cicilmeyer, the leadership was in a situation of trying to expand the dues paying rolls at CAP and was put in a situation that this agreement was the best we could negotiate. Our local is down to $585 thousand dollars at this time, 9 months ago we had over 1 million. The leadership team has been forced to sign FPS, let temps work at the plant, relax the stance on Health and Safety, Production Standards but it is in an effort to save the plant from closure. What you need to realize is that even though they make $9 per hour that is another $18 dollars per month to the IUAW in dues. We would have loved to put forth a referral system as was done in the past but we could not negotiate that this time and after the leadership team put our family in to the open slots there was no space left. But as our slogan stated "Putting our Family First" we hope to include the membership at a later date in hiring opportunities!

So no matter the cost as long as our local and the international pull in more dues we compromise everything the union is supposed to stand for?Starting pay of $14 is not enough for Ford????They want even more?So if we decide to strike we can all be easily replaced with temp workers? The two tier I thought was the begining of the end for the uaw, now temp workers, just one more nail in our coffin. How about we cut some of the fat from the IAUW, rather than let people work like animals for little more than minimum wage?I am willing to pay more to sustain the IUAW but I also want more accountability and direct elections for IUAW officials.I thought this was just a really bad rumor but I guess not.Truly sad.Autoworkers having to work for wages barely above minimum wage.A total disgrace and a betrayal of union people the world over.

I don't mean to question your post but your 2013 local LM-2 shows that your local receives over 2 million a year in dues and agency fees. Did that suddenly change or did disbursements increase that dramatically?

Local 551 DOL File number 041-323

disbrusements....disbrusements..... disbrusements..... just transfered $50K from savings to cover commercial account (checking account) in just one month. $50K was only shown on the monthly finaical report as a savings account reduction but, not listed as income? $110K spent in the frist quarter of this year, beyond what was taken in.

Lost time alone averages $30 to $35K a month. Close to $35K in lodging and travel expense in the first three months this year. Regestration fee`s $15K or so far this year. This year our picnic will be a minimun of $90K.

Decker thanks for the explanation I have 1 question as I have not been to meetings in a while, last year our activist Financial Secretary brought charges on the Chairman for $12k dollars of legal bills for the year. I stopped and got a copy of the month's report put out and nearly that much has been paid to the lawyers in the first 3 months. My question because I must have missed it in his latest letters is has he filed charges or said 1 word about this, we are on pace to spend 4x the amount when the activist filed charges.

Nope uaw12, he sat there at the meeting like the only man in the hall that knows everything, about everything, as always.

This from a man that was sure he had the complete solution for all the finacial mismanagement by the IUAW and printed up all those "whereas`s" on how to eliminate this need to raise dues by taking away the thirteenth strike fund rebate check. Of course he figured, that because our local is taking in $180K to $190K a month hell we could spare that thirteenth check....(never once said anything about the $50K pulled out of the savings account either) But once again when he stands up at the next Con Con (he knows he will be elected) and tells the next IUAW President he has lost touch, dosen`t have a clue and everything else he through out at the last Con Con... maybe one of the delegates from the smaller local`s will tap him on the shoulder (kick him in the nuts) and explain they can not afford to give up that check..... Wait a minute he only thinks in the "me' or "I" state of mind. Thinking about anything other than what our resident activist comes up with is just wrong in the book of the all knowing one.

Yep, our lawyers are on overtime.... not a peep. Yep, we moved $50K from savings to checking and still spent over $50K more than we took in for the same month as the switchy switchy of accounts....not a peep. Did he confront the Secretary/Treasurer about the "misprint" in the income listings on the financial report...not a peep.Yep, our conservative/activist sat there a little miffed about "HIS RESOLUTION" but.....not a peep.

Maybe, just maybe the silents has something to do with the $5K or so every other month that is spent on "HIS" glamor magizine.

If I remember correctly our resident activist had to swollow a big turd when he had to (in front of the membership) retract his judgement, I mean charges against the former Chairmen. Ever ask the all knowing one if he can list any successes in his kingdom of activism? Wait another minute!!!!!, we can not question the all knowing one.

For the record our resident activist lodged (kinda) charges (past judgement) (made accusations) against an old long hair too.

Decker not sure how many people took the time to read the book(I mean letter) the activist put out but he claims it is about the membership and team but the Freudian slip is all over the book I mean letter, I, me. This is the individual that put the same people in office that now he is against! And you are right he said not 1 word about the local account at $585 thousand and dropping quicker than Al Roker on a greasy flag pole. But he will address it I am sure in his magazine that we spent $30 thousand on last year and the President who he opposes(LOL) put him in charge of.
