Cabin air filter replacement ???

I have not done this job, others on the forum have and I hope they respond, Based on the directions in the Ford Service Information CD, this procedure looks correct. The main point that I saw was that it does not appear to be necessary to disconnect the electrics which was of some concern to me. The video make it look a little less difficult than I thought based on some comments made in the earlier thread. I book marked the site, thanks for posting it.

Yeah, sure. It's pretty much correct. I have done this 3 times. If you don't remove the 8 connectors in the BCM you really have to yoga the old filter out and the new one in. I always removed the BCM connectors. The one thing they left out is the big door gasket molding. It just pulls right off and it makes taking off that triangular panel to the right of the glove box a lot easier. Don't know why they omitted this tip. The workshop DVD explains this.

Three times already? How many miles do you have on yours? We live maybe 10 miles apart so we have similar road/pollution/pollen conditions and I know I've had my Escape longer and I'm still on the original filter. Granted, I turned mine over 15k this weekend. I was thinking I'd do the filter at about 20k but you're making me rethink it!

Does anyone know if the attatched collection of videos is acurate on how to change the filter?

If it is, is the 2.0 the same?

This is a great video. I tried doing this, flying blind. I am so glad I found this video. I was no where near the right place under my dash.

And I thought replacing the cabin filter on the Fusion was bad. The Escape has it beat hands down!!

I now know Rube Goldberg officially works for Ford and is in charge of engineering the location of the cabin air filters on all their cars.

I imagine a Ford service department hands you a pretty large bill when they do this job.

Mine's now at 23k miles and I haven't done the filter yet. Since I mainly use recirc because of the long pollen season here, I had decided to do mine at 30k. I did the cabin filter on my Mazda3 on Saturday and the Escape can't be worse that it (you have to remove the fuse box and a frame bracket). Took about an hour to do. I may go ahead and do the Escape sooner since it's been three years even if the miles are still low.
