danmc
Ordered a new 2014 explorer. Dealer called last week to say the vehicle was built and shipped and arrived in Atlanta (near me) but was on hold now pending an inspector from the factory who isn't due in town until the end of this week. Said it was a "2S stop shift campaign" which means nothing to me. My wife took the message and the specific name didn't mean anything to her either. Anyone hear anything about this? Some of the nice folks over another explorer forum haven't heard anything and have received new explorers in the last week or two. Thanks -Dan
akirby
Probably 'stop ship' rather then 'stop shift'. It just means they found a problem on the assembly line that could potentially affect previously built vehicles. I wouldn't worry - they'll fix whatever is wrong if necessary - but it will cause a delay.
SilverLS
When you find out what it means I would be interested in hearing what it is?
danmc
wife talked to dealer, he said he had misunderstood and it is indeed "stop ship" which makes a lot more sense. Will post an update if/when I figure out *why* the stop ship. Kiddos will not appreciate being crammed into the back seat of a Honda for holiday travels instead of the 2 back seats of a new Explorer! danmc
Seems there was a quality issue. After the vehicle sat here (in the city but not at the dealer) for a bit, Ford recalled it to the factory. No further details from the dealer. He said he wasn't able to get any more information from the factory.
