Cruze killing the Focus each month in sales...Why? Chevy total sales per month include an average of 25% going to Fleet orders. I wonder what percentage of Ford total sales are fleet orders?

The answer is simple, Malibu is that bad and Fusion is that good....

Think about it, why would you buy  a mediocre mid sizer when a less costly large compact will do.....

Why would you then buy the Cruze instead of something from another automaker?  It's not like the Cruze is the cream of the crop of small cars either.  I really can't believe it's doing well at all with its warmed-over-Cobalt-which-was-a-warmed-over-Cavalier exterior styling.

A lot of people bought Cobalts and Cavaliers mainly because the price was right, so they are probably thrilled with the Cruze, as it is a big step up from those two cars.

I'm also sure that GM offered deals to Saturn and Pontiac owners, in order to keep them in the "GM family."

If you've suffered with a Saturn Ion, the Cruze probably seems like a revelation.

Some people will just only by ___________ brand cars. Couple walks into their Chev-ro-lay dealer to replace the last bowtie-branded car that parks next to the Silverado in their driveway... Looks at the Malibu, sees a more competitively priced Cruze, goes for a drive, and signs the papers.

The C - Max has had a lot of bad press recently, given the reliability reports and gas mileage adjustments.

As for the Cruze vs Focus, while I would rather have the latter, I do think the Focus looks more "economy car" in its proportions and style while the Cruze looks more midsize, more traditionally substantial. Just a guess...

 with its warmed-over-Cobalt-which-was-a-warmed-over-Cavalier exterior styling.

Um, the Cobalt was a completely different design starting with completely different door design and window technology. They look similar, in that they both have 4 wheels.

As to the Cruze, you're entitled to your opinion. Mine is that the Cruze is very different from the Cobalt, which has different proportions and a much 'softer' look, compared to the crisp fender lines on the Cruze, which also has a more aggressive front clip. :)

Well, don't forget that GM still sells more vehicles than any other automaker in the US.

And has a lower profit than Ford. I'd guess that the Cobalt carries a significantly lower ATP than the Focus.

I would hope so, they haven't sold them new in years!

Seriously though, this is what happens when you rename your products each time you redesign them.

Gee. I wonder why GM's margins are lower than Ford's.

As for E-Series sales, Frontline Communications bought up "every one that they could" to convert into ENG and SNG live trucks before they go offline. They have a Transit demo going around, but they're also pushing the Nissan NV (without success thus far) for builds before the Transits are ready to roll.

What's the "E" stand for? I'm guessing "NG" is "News Gathering" and "S" is "Satellite"

Electronic News Gathering and Satellite News Gathering... "ENG" is the generic term for a microwave truck; the standard tall mast, microwave transmitter, and all that.

The worst part of the Cruze is the taillights.  They just seem a generation behind the industry in their ghastly shape and size.

Eh, I like the tails on several Chevys. I like the Camaro and Corvette lights just fine.  They seem to have issues on their "cheaper" cars though.  Everything from the Malibu down looks a bit "off" somehow to me.

Cruze

The Cavalier and Cobalt where way too similar to one another IMO. The Cruze looks better, but the styling is still underwhelming, but better then the previous cars

To me the Cobalt is exactly what you would get if you took 50% Cruze and blended it with 50% Cavalier.

Weren't just arguing a while ago the new gen Impala was so different from the prior gen that even though it has the same name, no one would confuse the 2?  Now 2 vehicles, after a completely new design, with 2 different names, look similar?

photo-thumb-15254.jpg

Currently: '09 Ford Fusion V6 SEL Smokestone

Prior:

'01 Pontiac Sunfire (traded in for the Fusion with 142k...good car, never a problem)
'00 Plymouth Neon (traded in for the Sunfire with 35k when I blew the head gasket---probably because I pegged it at 110 twice. I liked the car, though...it was my first new car)
'94 Plymouth Acclaim (first car I ever BOUGHT...ok car, but transmission was horrible...traded this for the Neon)
Pontiac LeMans (I think it was an '89...barely memorable)
'76 Ford Granada (my very first car---parents bought it for $500)

Future: Mindless support for Trump means something other than a Ford. (Probably an ATS or an S60).
