During the periodic budget fits that have seized Washington for the last several years, President Obama and his team have made a consistent claim about negotiating with Republicans. No matter what the president tries, or whom he negotiates with, the White House can never make progress because congressional Republicans are controlled by a hard-right faction that refuses to compromise or accept anything less than total victory. According to Obama, that is what killed the famous “grand bargain” talks with House Speaker John Boehner in the summer of 2011, and it's what killed the so-called Supper Club negotiations on the budget this summer with Republican senators. Now the GOP is handing the president more evidence for his claim. Republicans, including staunch conservatives, admit that a small band of ultrapure conservatives have forced the larger congressional GOP membership into a witless act of blundering self-destruction.

Considering Obamacare was passed without the traditional 60/40 minimum on Christmas eve. Not exactly accepting anything less than what Republicans are accused of demanding.

 

Controlling the White House, the Senate and facing loss of their majority in the House, liberals used their last opportunity to exert their monopolistic power.

Not quite so much so for the Republicans.

 

And if shutting down the government is SO bad, let the democrats sign-off on defunding Obamacare.

 

But, we all know the issue will never be described that way.

 

Funny how intransigence is bad when Republicans do it, but OK when Democrats do it.

If anyone has to surrender, the democrats can do it just as easily as the Republicans, and probably should, considering 2014.

But when a white person is critical of a black President it can only be because the white person is racist. See how that works?

 

Yes, because given the chance to criticise the president, those innocent white folk don't ever break out in racially suspect actions do they? No, they just hang out and make thoughtful comments about the president's skin color or supposed religious belief. There's nothing racial about this at all.

If at speeches you had anti-Bush protesters who were majority black and made the same comments you'd be frothing at the mouth to denounce those evil African Americans and yet in the face of massive racial motivated actions you see no racism by conservative Caucasians. I guess that's what happens when your head is in the sand, or up something.
