Front end clunking sound

I've got a 2013 SEL with 2700 miles on it. I've had a clunking/creaking sound on it for the past month. Supposedly a TSB would take care of it. Well, it didn't. Now the dealer has two more Escapes with the same problem and no solution yet. Any thoughts out there? I'm getting really frustrated after spending a good deal of money on this vehicle to have these problems.

This has been discussed before. I believe a couple of posters had faulty motor mounts replaced. Keep pressing the service department for a repair, the important thing is it has to be able to be duplicated to be repaired under warranty. Take the service tech out and drive under conditions you know will cause the clunking sound. No need to get frustrated over one minor issue, your car is under warranty, if there's a problem, it will get fixed.

Just got a call from my dealer. Seems Ford thinks they have a solution to the front end noise problem. They ordered parts and the car is going in Thursday. Hope this takes care of problem.

I also called the Ford customer service and I was assigned a case number. The rep told me that the engineers were working in the problem. We'll see what happens.

Yes, please keep us updated. If you can, when you get of it back after the work is performed, scan your work ticket and post it here(leaving out anything personnal of course). That would be awesome.

I've had this issue for a while as well.Had it to the dealewr a few months ago complaining about a front end clunking noise when turning the wheel and hitting a small bump or hill. They replaced the driver strut but the noise was still there...Anyway, I took it back to the dealer yesterday with a laundry list of issues including the clunking noise.Im told there are 2 new TSB regrading a front end clinking/clunking noise.Something to do with bushings somewhere. They needed to order the parts and kept my car overnight giving me a freeebie car rental, which make me appreciate my escape that much more becasue that toyota corrola is a piece of tin can crap! I'll scan and post the work order as well when I get the car back.

well my issue kind of sounds very similar but i hear it coming from the rear end of the car when i hit bumps, i never hear it on the highway speeds but on local roads going less than 20mph i can definetely hear it like a clunking sound and goes away. I mean i could be wrong maybe it is coming from the frond end of the car but i think its coming from the rear. I have a 2.0 Titanium by the way if that makes a difference.

Heard from the dealer, not getting my car back until tomorrow. They just got the part in 30 min ago..blah blah blah. Anyway, whats being replaced is the strut mount, which one would think they would have replaced or inspected when the strut was replaced but apparently not.I'll keep the board posted.

I was told by a Ford rep that the noise coming from the rear is from the type of shocks that were put on the Escape.

Well, dealer called this afternoon after my car has been there since yesterday. They put in the new parts they were told to and there is still a noise. Now they're looking at replacing steering gear and car won't be done until late Monday. This keeps getting deeper and deeper!

BTW-I had my oil changed in this visit and like others it showed 5w 20 being used.Service manager looking into it but he thinks its a typo. blah, blah, blah.

Well, picked up car today. I still makes a creaking sound when braking and turning. The service rep tried to tell me that there is more space in the brakes so that's why the noise. H said to try it a few days and come back. I haven't tried the motor mount issue yet. You would think that the Ford engineers would figure it out.

Took car back this morning. A tech rode with me and verified the creaking sound, mainly when braking and turning. He said there was no difference in the two TSB's. ford wanted them to replace he same parts again. The tech said that they have received many complaints from Escape owners about the noise. One of the things that lends itself to the noise is that the inferior of the Escape is so good that you hear every little sound. I'm taking it back tomorrow. The tech has a few more things to try. The tech said maybe the struts are too tight, perhaps greasing the fittings more. Don't know but will update when I get it back.

I picked up my vehicle today. A field engineer came and verified the noise. Now it is under investigation by Ford. At this point there is no fix for it. My dealer has three other Escapes with the same problem. The company has five dealerships and there is a problem with Escapes in three of them.

The Customer Service Manager for the Great Lakes area sent this email to the service manager: "I confirmed that it is under investigation. All we can do is advise the customers that it's currently under investigation. If they felt it was a safety issue they would put out a safety recall, but at this time it's a noise concern."

The tech, who spent ten hours on my car, said that everything was tight in the front end. He said that the motor mounts had nothing to do with it. It's a noise that doesn't belong there.

So, I'm back to square one with a car that has a front end noise, hoping that Ford finds a solution.

Thanks for the update - I'll be watching for any future news. Fro me the noise is getting slightly worse. I feel good that it is not really problematic - but it is annoying. I spent god money for a new car with reasonable luxury - which the noise detracts from.

I agree with you. We paid a lot of money to have a car with an annoying noise.

I did receive a call from the Customer Relations Manager this afternoon. She apologized for not having a fix for the front end noise at the present time. She did say that this is affecting quite a few Escape owners. It is under investigation and they are pushing it forward in order to find a solution. With the Escape having a new style this year, there are some bumps in the road, but they are trying to fix the problem.
