Has anyone tried using a Windows 8 phone with SYNC or MyFord touch? Curious to see how well they do work with the system.

I'm curious as well, especially the new Nokia phones which look like nice phones.

I have a Nokia Lumia 920 and a 2010 FFH with the Sync system.  I can't speak to the MFT product but with my 2010 sync it works well the majority of the time.  I have only two gripes.

  1. The car will periodically tell me "phone disconnected" and it will not make/receive any calls through my phone.  But the Bluetooth audio still works fine for streaming music through the system.  Very odd.
  2. If I am streaming audio to the car in the morning and go in to work, when I come back out and turn on the car it automatically starts playing the Bluetooth audio again.  This has been in the sync forums for some time and I also had this issue on my iPhone 4.  I think it may be more a part of the Bluetooth spec than it is the phone or the car.  I'm not really sure but it is an annoyance to have to stop playback first thing.  At least that is my preference to not have it start automatically.

One thing I really like about the phone is it has its own voice control features.  You can set the phone to read you incoming text messages when using a Bluetooth headset or all of the time.  So in the FFH my texts messages get read to me over the car audio despite the sync system not being able to do that itself as I have the nav system with sync.  I can also dictate text responses using the car's microphone.

It functions just as well with my Windows 8 phone as it did with my iPhone with the exception of that "phone disconnected" nuisance.  That didn't start until I changed phones to WP8.

My Nokia 810 works great in my 2011 GT500 w/ navigation and 2012 Flex w/ navigation (both not MFT). I also get the periodic disconnects, though fairly rare, and the music auto play issue happens as well. Otherwise, everything works well - I stream music, have it read and respond to texts by voice, use TellMe voice control, etc. My wife doesn't want to use her Galaxy S3 when we're both in the car because my phone works so well - maybe that's just WP vs Android but no major complaints for me, it just works.

My WP 7.5 works well with Sync in our Flex.  I've had it read and respond to text messages without touching the phone, as well as dialing and receiving phone calls.  I don't normally use the BT streaming in the car, though, so I can't comment on that feature.
