transitman Posted July 29, 2012 Share Posted July 29, 2012 (edited) I'm trying to order a cargo liner through Ford Accessories and the dealership states that Ford keeps canceling the order and says they aren't available, I tried again tonight. I need that liner to protect from my golf clubs and push cart, among other things. The cargo area carpet fiber isn't the toughest material and bruises easily. I checked their web site and Husky Liners already has a cargo liner and Weatherbeater floor liners available for the 2013. The floor liners from my Focus almost fit, but not quite. They only sell floor liners in front and rear sets and they're a whopping $169.95 and $99.95 for the cargo liner, the Ford cargo liner is $81.00. I've had both Husky and Weather Tech liners and I like the coverage and ease of removal of the Husky's more. The Husky's flex and can be bent to hold slush and salty water, whereas the Weather Tech's are stiff and it's easy to spill melted snow on the carpet when removing them. I'm also planning on tinting the front door windows to match the rear tint and I might install molded splash guards. That's all I'm planning on doing, I'm not big into mods, just the basics. I took off the cross bars tonight, no need for them at this time and though its probably very minor, creates some wind resistance. You need a Torx 30 driver to remove the X-bars. Makes it look nice back there, and has the "escape" script molded into it. The weathertech would probably be thicker and 100% rubber. Not much change in wind noise, but I figured it would help a small percent on the gas mileage, plus I think it looks sleaker withough them. I looked for the silver caps that cover the open thread grommets on the side bars, but they don't list a seperate part number in the system. Might just by some caps and make them silver myself. Just toss a crappy throw rug in the back and that will protect the carpet until Ford gets stock on the cargo liner. No one will ever see it with the dark tinted windows. And speaking of window tint, I think matching the factory deep tint glass will be too dark on the front side windows. A tint installer I spoke with said a lot of local (Twin Cities) municipalities are getting real strict on illegal tint. Is there a plastic pad on the left foot dead pedal? Seems to me I read somewhere or saw a picture and that area is just carpeted and the all weather mat does not cover it. WTF is up with that idea? If not, I might have to source an aftermarket one once I determine how to anchor it and what size will fit (a lot of choices on eBay). The Escape is considered a truck and I think trucks can have as dark of tint as possible. A match with the rear may be too dark, a 30% would be OK. The Ford all weather floor mats are not the best and are the same size and shape as the carpeted mats. They barely cover and don't protect the sides and the dead pedal area. I had the Husky's in my Focus and they do a great job of covering the entire floor area, the dead pedal and up the sides. The Husky's have a bunch of small nubs that grab the carpet and hold them snug. I'm going to purchase a set of Husky's a little later this year. In the winter they would turn rock hard and slide around (no mat hooks back in the eighties) - I was rather unimpressed with them, although I am sure their design has changed/improved since then. Interesting to find that if you add them to your order before/at delivery, they are treated under the 3/36 portion of the warranty. If you add later, they have a 1 year warranty. Never had all weather mats before but I've worn holes through the mats of every car I've had before. Thinking all weather might be a good choice for a SUV. Interesting, they don't use the existing mat hooks. Any idea if the material they are make out of will stay flexible in the winter? Stick one in the freezer. I think I am going with just front splash guards to help keep the side of the vehicle a little cleaner in the winter. I have no real concerns about stone chips on the sides because of the size and placement of the black, textured cladding (love/hate relationship with that stuff since the Escape has so much of it for dried wax to stick in - will have to use a lot of blue masking tape at wax time). Base on my AWD experience, splash guards on all four corners results in a LOT of packed snow being dragged into the garage in the winter after each new snowfall. Here is a website http://navtv.com/product.php?ProductID=31 that makes a camera and interface module for MFT. Nothing listed for the 2013 Escape. It hasn't arrived yet. It's taking longer to ship this cargo mat than the floor liners. It took 4 days from Husky and since Aug. 4th for the cargo liner. Both places are in Kansas City. I can't track it from eBay, all it gave is delivery between Aug. 14-22 and now it says Aug. 8-15. Not a way to get positive feedback. I'll post pics and my thoughts if it ever gets delivered. I shipped mine to the states and will pick up there, it was wayyyyy too expensive to ship to Canada about 35 for the liner and another 30 for the mats, plus there would be duty on both.
