Natalie23_1986
Hey Everyone, I am completely illiterate when it comes to fixing cars. However, I'm not the type of girl to just drop a car off at the mechanic and tell them to fix it without at least trying to fix it myself first. So here's the story. My brother's 2002 lincoln navigator. One day we were going out, we stopped to get gas, put about 20 bucks in it, went through a drive through for some food, then parked facing downward on a hill to eat. When we were done eating he turned it on, sounded like it had a bit of trouble starting, but it finally did, we proceeded to drive down the hill, by the time we were at the bottom it had stalled completely. We were able to get it pushed out of the way under a tree. We had it towed and it is now parked in our driveway where it has been for awhile...we haven't been able to start it since. We had the battery recharged overnight at autozone, so that's now the issue. I am also aware of the fuel shut off button underneath the panel on the passenger's side, and it's not that either. Has anyone had a problem like this before, if so...do you have any idea of what it could be? I'm hoping we just need a new fuel filter, but I would like to get your guys' input since you probably all know a lot more about this than me. Any questions, just let me know. Thanks a lot for your time reading all of this, anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated! -Natalie
akirby
One day we were going out, we stopped to get gas Easy - bad gas. Check with the station - I'm sure others reported problems as well if that was it.

kstwister
Easy - bad gas. Check with the station - I'm sure others reported problems as well if that was it. I'd start with the fuel too. Probably needs to go to the shop. Have them dump the fuel, refill with $10 worth "good" gas, change the fuel filter, then try again. If it works, have the shop clear the codes and you should be good to go. I think the manual suggests a fuel filter every 30k or so. If it cranks and won't start you'll have to start checking spark and fuel. With two of two you have a running engine. With just one of those, not so much. Hopefully it was just bad gas. Good luck.
