NSA
I have a 2012 Focus Titanium w/ MFT.. and I've ran the tank down below 50 MPG every tank since I got it, I believe. I've seen the empty light turn on a FEW times in the 3000 miles so far. Not consistent or regularly though. My old 2010 Fusion was like clockwork, it was automatic at 50MTE and kept reminding you until you hit "OK" but it'd return when you turned the car back on. Seems like a bug to me, though I got as low as 7MTE so far in the car.. I think the max I've put in is a little over 11 gallons.
fordtion
It's a hit and miss, mostly a miss on our SEL also. Have not heard any chimes, just the yellow warning light on the tach side of the cluster. Our 2008 was flawless on low fuel warnig light. NSA
Fuel light turned on today right as the MTE ticker hit 35, but it was also at the same time I did a quick turn.. so who knows.
mrgdr57
The wide-ranging, inconsistent indications from such a simple system are truly astonishing.
mrgdr57
Eureka! I finally got a low fuel warning lamp indication at 41miles DTE.
efy
My low fuel light comes on at 1/8 of a tank and it chimes.
tecsys3
There seems to be a lot of dummy lights/gauges in this car.. and worse it seems to vary from person to person. So the fuel warning is a dummy light? I've heard the engine temp gauge is dummy (just tells you cold, normal, too hot) As someone else said, the wide ranging variance on such a simple system is a bit concerning
