Owner's manual said it should be done at 120,000mi and I just now turned that. Been going over it in the Hayne's Manual a good bit. ...question I got is do these actually really need changed? I've talked to several 2.5 4 cyl Ranger owners that have 150k to 200k on their trucks and when I've inquired about ever having their timing belts changed they said "What timing belt?" ...just don't know "how much" of a hurry I should be in to change it? That would've been my response. I'd have thought the Ranger would have a timing chain and a non-interference engine. Replace it when it breaks. Wasn't sure after reading that. Thanks for the response. After the 1.6l fiasco in the early 80's no NAAO Ford built engine with a timing belt is an interference engine. Noteable exclusions are the non ford built engines in the first and second gen SHO's, possibly the Mazda engines in probes and Escort GT's, Villager and possibly the Aussie Capris.
