6.2 fuel milage

Getting a little better than that with my F-350 CC LB, 6.2 w/ 4.30 gears on the highway (around 14). Around town I'm hard on the pedal, getting about 10.5 worst case scenario.

Mine has 4.10 gears and 11 around town without being hard on the pedal.

Probably not the same issue as we had, but our '01 v10 (Excursion) used to get 15 on the highway and started dropping over the winter until it wasn't getting much above 11. Wound up being two ignition packs that had intermittent misses after warming up. Doesn't miss enough to trigger any kind of warning light, but wreaked havoc on gas milelage. Replaced those two and it's back up to 15.

hey guys, just picked up my 2011 f250 cc 4x4 with the 6.2L and 3.73 gears last week and was looking to see what kind of milage others are getting, only half way through my first tank of gas and the computer says 12.2mpg around town, I had it out on the highway yesterday for a short 75 mile trip and the computer was reading up to 16.2mpg at 65-70mph. Great truck. traded in 2005 f150 cc 4x4 with 5.4l.

not bad, how many miles do you have on yours now, i am at 515km(321m) so i am thinking it should only get better.

Sorry it took me so long to reply.

My truck has 21,000 miles on it. I am taking a trip from Austin Texas to Phoenix Az so I will be able to give even better mileage.

Very interested to see as well for my new truck. I currently have a 6.4L 450CC with 4:30's and my new 350CC will have the same gearing, but with the new gas motor. I'm hoping for close as the diesel has never been very impressive.

Joe

Hi joe, did you get your new truck yet and how do you like it compared to your old truck?

I have a 2012 F350 dually CC LB XL with 6.2 gasser and 4:30 gears with 3500 mi so far, I drive daily 25% city the rest highway at 65 MPH and I am getting a solid 15.1 MPG by the computer.

I tend to drive with a light foot though!

Love the truck... buy one!

I have now reached the 5000 mile mark with my truck and have been averaging 14.5mpg for city driving and last road trip I went on the computer was reading 19.1mpg by the time I reached my destination. Best mpg I have seen was 23mpg with a wicked tail wind, only saw 12.5mpg on that return trip!

Depends on winter or summer driving. Getting 18+ mpg on freeway with no towing, 16 to 17 mpg on country roads with a bit of town, 12 to 14 mpg with short town and country trips. This mileage does decrease some with cold weather. Towing the 30' camper, it averages around 10 mpg, towing a smaller trailer with snowmobiles or atvs, it gets 11 to 12+ mpg. Have over 11000 miles on the truck, it's a 2011 F250 XLT with the FX4 package and extended cab. Love this engine and truck!!

Ordered my F250. Hoping to get 15-17 average out of a gas crew cab FX4 3.73 rear. What are your thoughts?

Several things already mentioned will affect your fuel economy:

  • Percentage of highway versus city miles
  • Ambient temperature
  • Driving style
  • Load

Assuming about 60% highway, temps above 60, light foot, no load, 15-17 should be achievable on a 4x2.

4x4 will cost you about 2 mpg on the highway and 3 mpg in the city.

those numbers are very achievable with a light foot although the 6.2 sounds great under heavy throttle. I didn't get very good numbers when it was new but now have 20k kilometers(approx. 12k miles) now and it has improved.
