There was a press realese that stated Dec 23 would be the end of Ranger production at twin cities

The last truck should roll off the line dec. 19. Over the next couple of weeks retirees, family & friends get to tour the plant. In a couple of months they can tour our homes and see us on the couch collecting unemployment.

Not much consolation but I wish you all the best. I had the pleasure of touring TCAP in 2002 and I was impressed- the tour guides were retirees and the pride was obvious. What surprised me the most was how clean and organized it was- much more so than the jet engine maker I worked for two plus decades before. I don't know what Ford's thinking on the Ranger is- with very little advertising and promotion and little development it still outsells many others. It is the only true compact truck left in the U.S. market anf I think Ford is foolish to throw it all away. I'm thinking about a 2011 to replace my '02 ...... if I can win approval from the "finance director" at home.

You don't understand the costs involved. It's a stand alone platform in a dedicated plant that just isn't selling well enough to warrant a big investment to update it. There will be a new smaller pickup within the next couple of years - could be a T6 ranger or a smaller F150 (F100?). But Ford is probably saving money by killing it.
