Buyout question----

I thought in the fine print it said after 5 years you could be hired again by Ford....

it was 5 years if you took the education package you retained all credited ford service prior to the your exit date < you had to maintain a average gpa and get a degree and then get rehired if ford was hiring at that time you went to the top of the list

if you just took the money and run package yeah you can be re new hired at 14 dollars a hour

You have to be separated from Ford for 2 years. I took a buyout also, and would like to come back, just not as a line worker. In 4 years I will have a engineers license, and will have the experience, and credentials to work in the powerhouse. Didn't you use any of the money you got to forward your career? You can't just buy everything you want, and wait for the money to run out!

  • 3 years later...

there seems to be a miscommunication regarding the rehire rights of those that took the buyout...some are saying they remember being told eligible after 2 yrs. leadership has told me that was only for EDOPP but i took the STEP and other people i know that took the STEP say the same thing..... after 2 yrs they can go back... it doesnt make sense why they would rather hire inexperienced people off the street than bring back old workers for less money than they made before. but anyway...does anyone have the documentation with "FINE PRINT" i cannot find mine i dont remember getting a copy of what i signed... but i want to see where it mentions the 2 year thing. if anyone replies to this please email me rts_computers@charter.net screenshots would be appreciated. i noticed WILDOSVT had a 7 page document but only posted the cover of it.

i also would like to say that..whether it be 2 yrs or 5 yrs or for EDOPP OR STEP it should be standard across the board for all.... this seems to be grounds for a class action suit if you ask me...because there are people who got back in.... there are also people who got a "referral" and took the test and then got shot down because of previously being employed.

just found in another forum...posted by TEXASBOUND

Who are you quoting? Because your info is dead wrong. based on the buyout papers I signed it's stated that you can get hired back into Ford. But for 5 years you cannot take another buyout. What are the odds of another one coming?

Here's what it says under the step program.

"If an eligible employee has recieved a STEP payment and is subsequently rehired by the Company, the employee will not be eligible for any future STEP payments until the employee has 5 or more years of seniority following such rehire. No seniority used to determine the amount of a previous STEP payment shall be used in determining a subsequent STEP payment."

There it is in black and white from Ford Motor. So I think you should stop listening to bob at the vending machine and research a little before spewing out fake quotes.

ID LIKE TO SEE THIS DOCUMENT AND IM SURE SEVERAL ATTORNEYS WOULD TOO considering KCAP is taking referrals right now and denying me because i took buyout

Why in hell would Ford want to rehire anyone that QUIT? Your paper work says ELIGIBLE...does Not say they are obligated to take you back. You QUIT Deal with it. YOU made the mistake. Ford did not force you to take it, so why in hell would you think that you deserve ANYTHING more from Ford? You don't. You got all you deserved and agreed to. BYE BYE We don't want quitters coming back to the line, we have far too many people that think Ford OWES them a living.

Ford owes me a paycheck for the hours I work, and whatever other contractual obligations they agreed to. and Not a damned thing more.
