I noticed within the last few weeks that my local Lincoln dealership doesn't have a single Mercury left. I asked and they told me that they are no longer selling any Mercury vehicles.

I have to say, that was FAST! They dried up their Mercury inventory within a Month and the brand is essentially gone.

Anybody finding their L/M dealerships Mercury free at this point?

Local Lincoln-Mercury-Mazda dealer I drove past about a week ago had all of their Mercurys parked in the grass along the street front and center. Looks like they were pushing to get rid of them.

I don't think the F-L-M dealer a couple of miles from me has had any in stock for a long time. Last time I was in there - they had 2 Lincolns and no Mercury's. Basically if there wasn't a sign on the building, you wouldn't know they dealt anything besides Fords.

So Mercury discontinuing is a big non-event for them.

My neighborhood Hines Park LM dealer still has them, but the inventory is thin. He has tons of MKS's and MKT's sitting around though. He even has a brand new Naviagator sitting front and center up front. Hines Park will survive on its very good used vehicle department. It will not survive selling the very slow moving Lincolns.

According to Automotive News production figures, Ford is still producing about 500 Milans and Mariners/week as they are probably now filling orders. Hines Park has told the local papers around here that he ordering every Milan and Mariner he can get his hands on. Milan and Markiner are very popular vehicles in Western Wayne County. More popular than Fusion and Escape.

I think my CFLs are mercury free. Still can't throw them away in the street trash, though.

Yup, gotta be careful disposing those CFLs.

Incidentally, Ford has gone mercury free for all 2011 MY Lincoln vehicles equipped with HID headlamps (Osram D3S) . ;)

Mercury will not "officially" be gone until the sign company comes and takes the Mercury signs down :reading:

Every dealer has different inventory I suppose.

For example, my dealer (Crissman in Rochester) has a boat-load of Lincoln MKS EB's, all the same configuration. But they don't have a single MKT, they sell every one they can get their hands on.

I think my area is an SUV sort of town so MKX and MKTs are their hotest sellers, while MKS and MKZ sit around a bit longer.

I honestly don't think my dealer is going to survive without Mercury, they were on the brink as it is. The Mariner was their hottest seller.

People seem to keep forgetting that these dealers are going to be compensated in cash for the loss of their Mercury sales for three years.

Up until a year or so ago, there was a local dealer with the old ChryCo multi-panel style sign (the ones with the Pentastar on top), right against the road, that read:

CHRYSLER
PLYMOUTH
EAGLE

As far as I know, there's no such thing as a mercury-free CFL.

This is as much as I know, too...

We've been stocking up on "normal" lightbulbs when we can... we've tried the CFLs and just haven't been able to get used to them. I'll use the old style as long as I can. The come on instantly, don't have the flat blueish tint of CFLs, and if one breaks, the only health hazard is broken glass.

The whole CFL thing is over stated...you inhale more Mercury in the air from coal plants then you do from light blubs breaking....they just don't want millions of them in landfills years from now when they would become a major issue.

The Pontiac signs are still up in Metro Detroit at the Buick/GMC dealerships. Those Mercury signs could be staying up also for months on end. Around here, the Lincoln/Mercury logos are on one big sign. It will take a long time to change those big signs out. Or maybe they could just put gobs of duck tape over the Mercury logo. :camera:
