Changing Stance, Administration Now Defends Insurance Mandate as a Tax

WASHINGTON — When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”

While Congress was working on the health care legislation, Mr. Obama refused to accept the argument that a mandate to buy insurance, enforced by financial penalties, was equivalent to a tax.

“For us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase,” the president said last September, in a spirited exchange with George Stephanopoulos on the ABC News program “This Week.”

When Mr. Stephanopoulos said the penalty appeared to fit the dictionary definition of a tax, Mr. Obama replied, “I absolutely reject that notion.”

Maybe a woman has the right to do as she wishes with her own body, even killing an unborn baby. However, the blood should only be on her hands and the hands of the abortuary. There should be no funding from any plan that other people pay into because this makes them accessories.

I thought we were going to mention the "Messiah's" appearance on The View yesterday. While Elizabeth tried desperately to have him answer important questions (a lot of jobs have been lost, and he hasn't created any, but he made sure to point out that there are still people working, and he takes full credit it for that), the hard hitting questions CNN talking head Joyless Behar asked were about what was on his IPod, and what he thought of the cast from Jersey Shore. Obama said he has no idea who Snooki was, which is interesting, since a few weeks ago at an appearance, Obama mentioned every member of Jersey Shore.

So, is Obama lying again, or does he just read whatever is on the teleprompter without ever bothering to know what he s talking about? Either way, 2012 the streets of Chicago will have their community organizer back.

That's not the way I saw it. Elizabeth tried to hit him with Fox Opinion News talking points and he replied with facts and shut her up.
Same thing he did when he met with the repubs in January.

This is the problem with the American Public today. They see these types of daytime shows and think just because somebody important is going to be on there, to make some campaign appearance or to plug a book, etc... that they have to formulate all opinions around what they say. This is total garbage and a waste of valuable air time. Makes me long for the days when Family Feud with Richard Dawson hosting it was in that time slot on that network!
