akirby
can you get the thing in right hand drive? They sell them in the UK - that should be a clue.
156n3rd
Why is there no larger powerplant or even an EcoBoost for this thing? I saw a mock-up of this unit as a taxi. That would tax any smallish powerplant in there. Nice truck thought. We rode in an extended diesel version of a taxi in Scotland. They use them for Law Enforcement there, along with Corollas for stake outs.
ice-capades
I'm surprised that no one's posted a note about the Canadian postal service placing an order recently for 1,000+ Transit Connect's. They currently use the same vehicles that the USPS uses so just maybe the USPS will consider doing the same, especially since Ford wil be offering an electric Transit Connect later this year. The downside will be for Ford dealers. As Ford sells more Transit Connect vehicles to corporate and government fleets it'll mean lower availablity to Ford dealers due to plant capacity in Turkey. As the Transit Connect establishes more of a presence in North America, at some point Ford will have to consider building it here. FYI... Of the Transit Connect vehicles I'm seeing on the road on a regular basis, both small business and fleet units, about 50% have some sort of graphics treatment which only helps them stand out even more. Mackintire
Currently, there is only one factory that makes ALL of the Transit Connects, worldwide. Future plans include the 1.6 liter EB engine and a 6 speed automatic. The EB 1.6 liter is not ready....So I am assuming it'll be for the 2013 year.
