rscalzo
Anyone know where the door ajar sensor is located in the 2008 and later ESCAPE?
akirby
It's usually in the latch inside the door.
rscalzo
It's usually in the latch inside the door. I read that it was changed to a magnetic switch in 08 but I haven't been able to verify that yet. I'm getting a door ajar light every so often. If it isn't anything I can clean from the exterior I'll have to take it into the dealer and let them deal with it under warranty. GaryG
I read that it was changed to a magnetic switch in 08 but I haven't been able to verify that yet. I'm getting a door ajar light every so often. If it isn't anything I can clean from the exterior I'll have to take it into the dealer and let them deal with it under warranty. The '09 Escape repair manual says the door ajar switch is still part of the front door latch. Ford wanted to replace my '02 Explorer door latch assembly but I had the switch changed by itself at a local repair shop. Labor getting to the switch is the problem. Looks like your going to have to take it for warranty work since it's covered. The manual says nothing about a magnetic type switch in the '09 manual. akirby
Try a good shot of WD-40 first.
rscalzo
Try a good shot of WD-40 first. I was going to use contyact cleaner which is actually much better than WD40 as it attects dirt. But I can't find the actual switch.
