Say your 10 yr. old child was about to become a 5th grader. Just prior to the beginning of school, you are notified that your childs teacher for the year will be ......William Ayers. What would you do??................................................................................

........

Exactly. You'd go down to the school and demand your child be reassigned to a different teacher. Is the mom of a 5th grader smarter than a Harvard law graduate??? How many of these bizarre associations (Rev. Wright, etc. )does Obama have to have before people get turned off?

its too late man....

we might have to live with it....i think we will be ok though....backlash will come

Don't throw in the towel yet! We still have some time left and unless they find a way to seal Joe Biden's lips, there's still hope. Anything can happen. Don't believe the polls....they can be very deceptive.

I'm turned off by Obama for plenty of reasons not even related to his "sketchy" relationships. Personally, I just find most of the attempts to "connect the dots" to look pretty sad and desperate, that's all. They do nothing but invigorate the voting base of the opponent being attacked.

Well, not according to the leftist liberal mind set. What happened in the past, according to them has little relivance on the the man or thefuture.

I hope anyone who might own a gun of any type hides them well. There will be legislation from the left demanding that we turn in all guns. This will happen. Remember an unarmed society is an obedient society. Just ask the Jews in Germany.

Obama is a Marxist/Socialist and will attempt to silence anyone and everyone who questions him or his administration. He's already trying to get the courts to silence all the reporting on Acorn.

By the way stock up on ammo I fear you will need it.

As an "outsider" (canadian)

I can see Mccain goin back to a more central position once bush and that group of hard core right wingers are gone. Possible connections will keep him right but I think it will level off. He is more of a centrist, which is what the states needs right now.

I can see Obama going easy for the first week or three, then BOOM! the first agenda arrises and causes concern, then BOOM! the next (all backed by pelosi of course) and after a year there is a lot of people going "oh crap what did we do" Then by the end of second year there will either be a complete collapse in the states in every form or his agenda is so complex and misunderstood by the mainstream that people won't even know they are sheep being headed into the socialist chopper.

(who would of thought that a hard right pres like bush would do a socialist buyout, imagine what a hard left pres can do)

These are indeed scary times for the states and anyone watching

Bush is a hard core right winger? You wouldn't know it looking at any of his policies. Bigger government. More government oversight. More government agencies. More corporate welfare. Yeah, those sound like right wing traits to me.

I think you make a valid point when you say that it invigorates the voting base of the opponent and although attempts "to connect the dots" may seem sad and desperate to some, it may also be an eye opener to those who might be "on the fence."

I found your post interesting. I have a friend who is a Russian Jew now living in the U.S. Her family escaped to Israel and later came to the U.S. with the help of a sponser. When the conflict in Georgia came about, I asked her what her thoughts were and she said that Georgia and those other states will never go back to their previous way of life. Now they've had a taste of freedom and they will die first. I don't know if she's right, but I am inclined to believe her. She told me that she thinks many Americans take their freedom for granted, but I assured her that there are also many of us who don't. I would like to think we could all come together as patriots and be united in our defense, but this election has been difficult and there is much bitterness. Hopefully, we will be able to overcome it all and your fears will not be realized.

"Although he is now trying to run from his anti-gun past, Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun president

in American history. Here are four of the many facts in his record of opposing gun owners:

Obama voted to allow the prosecution of law-abiding citizens

who use a firearm for self-defense in the home.1

Just this year, Obama supported Washington, D.C., laws banning handguns

and making self-defense illegal—in your own home.2

Obama supported a 500% increase in federal taxes on guns and ammunition.3

Obama voted to ban hundreds of rifles and shotguns commonly used for

hunting, including single-shot, over-under and side-by-side shotguns.4

Anyone who knows tax law knows the federal tax system stopped being about funding the government, and all about social engineering a long time ago. The power to tax is the power to control.

The only "change" put forth by Barry is a repackaging of the same tired old liberal policies that never work.

I'm wondering if Obama is elected, will he impose the same redistribution ideaology into the classroom. Will teachers have to announce to their students that anyone getting an A or A+ will now have some points taken away from their test scores and those points will be distributed among the rest of the students in that class.....to sort of "spread the grades around"? This system would obviously have great appeal to the low academically achieving students. Getting something for nothing would be wildly popular. But if adopted, just what lessons would students learn?

It seems that "tired old liberal policies" worked quite well with FDR with the Depression that Hoover so effectively dealth with.

Since the advent of Reagan, the regulatory ability of government was removed, and there haven't been any of those liberal policies. Any changes that were mase by the Carter and Clinton administrations were un-done by their Republican successors.

The point is, this problem has been generated by GOP party policies.

Those policies have failed.

In all the time since Reagan, the rich have made out fabulously, yet for the working class, wages are no better than what they were 30 years ago.

All of this success has produced a bankrupt American economy, that requires government buy-outs of financial firms along with a decaying, tired transportation infrastructure that requires replacement.

The money market, and a lot of aspects of business have a return of government control in their future, because they have shown they just can't be trusted.

Regardless of who is in the White House, these problems have to be resolved. Fix it.

EDSTOCK,

I seems like perhaps every hundred posts or so, you should remind us that you are Canadian.

I appreciate that you have an opinion, and that the US has a good deal of influence on Canada, but please try to refrain from speaking in the first person regarding the American experience.

If you believe that America was a better place under Carter than Reagan, then that is your opinion. Those of us who lived it know better.

If you believe that America was once this highly regulated state that succeeded as a result of massive centralized government control, I am sorry, but that was the other guys, or have you forgotten about the rousing failure of the USSR?

Two factors got us into this mess. First, in the interest of increasing home ownership, in 1992 Congress passed legislation to create set asides for loans to borrowers that had been previously considered too risky. This forced the mortgage originators to write a certain percentage of NON CONFORMING loans in order to be able to write good loans. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were further compelled to buy these mortgages on the secondary market. This policy was born under the Democrats, and adopted by the Republicans. There is plenty of blame to go around.

The additional incentives that allow Americans to sell there home ever two years and pocket the gains tax free up to $500,000 per person, turned houses into investment vehicles. These policies were supported by both parties.

It is instructive to keep in mind, that NONE of the derivatives or other instruments born of free markets would have been troublesome had the UNDERLYING BAD MORTGAGES no been written.

The long term solution to this problem is SIMPLE: STOP LOANING MONEY TO PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO REPAY.

On the one hand, increasing home ownership is a noble idea. The rate of home ownership rose by about 5% since 1992. Oddly enough, after all of the bad mortgages are washed out of the system, we will still have modestly higher rates of home ownership than before the social engineering experiment began. I doubt that many would say the results matched the cost...

Our problems were created by a mix or Democrat and Republican administrations and legislatures. Only a fool would try to ascribe all of the bad or all of the good to either of the parties.

But you have to remember none of that matters. It's the promise of something for nothing that matters. Remember Clinton said he would lower taxes the signed on one of the largest in US history. Stand by we are going to get a REBATE check not a tax reduction. We will lgive it to anyone who has ever held a job. Doesn't matter they haven't worked in years. We already spend near a trillion dollars a year on social entitlement programs, has anyone seen any improvement in education, housing etc.

I won't bring up where the "rebate" money is coming from.

This is already happening. Students who are not interested in learning are forced to stay in school, and promoted even if they fail. This is done in order to recieve government money. The school boards recieve an amount based on enrollment numbers. This attitude spreads to the otherwise gifted students who become lazy, also. It would be better to let the dropouts drop out, and set standards for advancement. Then a high school diploma would stand for something. To-day, many high school graduates are illiterate and have no knowledge of history or mathematical knowledge of scale or proportion. They are ripe for the plucking by socialist or religious organizations.
