Do you take past info on this or is it just something you update if there is a problem.. went to the site but it kinda confused me...

Sorry for the confusion. It can get a little complicated, though I keep working to make everything clearer.

The survey works like this:

1. Sign up your car

2. Once there are 25+ owners involved, the car is included in the main survey (about 75% of the cars enrolled are now in the survey)

3. One the car is in the main survey, you'll receive an email each month with links to the survey. Most months you only respond if there was a repair the previous month, but at the end of the quarter a response is needed either way. If not repair, it's basically just an approximate odometer reading.

The first time you receive the email it will ask only about the previous month. After that it asks about the quarter.

There's a second survey for people who want to also post older repairs, but this is entirely optional.

We have updated results for the Escape, Mariner, and Tribute to include owner experiences through September 30, 2010. Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the months since April until the summer or even fall of next year.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2010: 34, better than average

2009: 54, about average

2008: 64, about average

2007: 36, better than average

2006: 27, better than average

2005: 90, about average

2004: 68, better than average, very small sample size

2003: 117, about average, small sample size

2002: 59, better than average

2001: 98, better than average, small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

In the case of Escape, the percentage with no repairs is about 59 for the 2008 and 63 for the 2009, and the percentage of lemons is about 5 for the 2007 and less than one for the 2008.

Ford Escape Lemon-odds and Nada-odds

Thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in February and May. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

I just heard another recall on the Escape????

Vehicles Affected: Ford is recalling about 9,000 model-year 2014 Ford Escape and model-year 2015 Lincoln MKC compact crossovers. In a separate recall, Ford is also recalling approximately 11,000 model-year 2015 Lincoln MKC crossovers.

The Problem: For the first recall, Ford says an issue with the nickel plating on the fuel pump could cause the pump to seize. If this happens, the car may not start or may stall while driving, which could increase the risk of a crash. In the second recall, the MKC is being recalled to move the push-button start’s location. Because the button is close to other controls, drivers have inadvertently shut off the engine while driving, which turned off the restraint system. This could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

The Fix: Ford and Lincoln dealers will replace the fuel delivery module for the first recall. For the second MKC recall, dealers will replace the gearshift module with one that has the push-button in a different location and reprogram the power train control module.

What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Ford at 866-436-7332 for more information.
