OrlandoGuy80
Ford built 215K Escapes last year? That seems awful high. The media section of the FoMoCo website lists 2005 sales of the Escape as being 183,430, and I thought those numbers included fleet sales. Also, I would have figured Mercury sold more than 9,038 Mariners. I see those things everywhere.
fordjoc
http://www.mph-online.com/web/news/00343 Were told it's being fazed out in May. We really do not make to many Mazda's anyway and we get no profit shareing off of those vehicles. So I'm glad to see it go.
Kris Kolman
The numbers you're qouting are US alone... The Us plant exports to Canada and others.
OrlandoGuy80
Ah, that makes a little more sense for the Escape. Thanks.
syrtran
Canned? While it may yet get canned, that article says that Tribute production at Claycomo is suspended for 2007. The way this is written gives us a few possibilities: 1. Mazda is just waiting for the 2008 redesign (and let's hope it still has different sheetmetal instead of just an 'M' badge slapped on an Escape). This also gives them a long while to decide whether it belongs in the lineup or not. 2. There's already enough Tribs to get them through the rest of this year and into 2007. (Not likely). 2. 2007 Tribs will be shipped from Japan. (Although, this, too, is unlikely) 3. It's dead, and they're afraid to say so to potential customers until the CX-7 is in the showrooms.
