ANTAUS
Oh but how can this be, Detroit News had an article on Monday on how hot the sales were for the new Tahoe last month (I'm sure alot of them happened to be the previous generation they are getting rid of). Of how sales have been 50% from last years figures.... GM still has a hard time letting go of rebates.
PolarBear
I would think whoever wrote the article would have a better handle on the car biz. X$$$ over invoice- yippee skippee! Trade? Financing? Aftermarket? The selling price of the vehicle is almost getting irrelevant anymore.
RichardJensen
"waive the $100 doc fee" WOW. $100 doc fee. Secondly, that too is false advertising. You CANNOT waive the doc fee. It's illegal. The only way you get away with charging that fee is if you charge EVERYBODY. They're just knocking another $100 off the selling price. Of course "invoice" price is getting to be about as phony as "list price". ...
kevinb120
The people that I know that sell Chevy are clocking serious loot on the new ones. "Don't forget, the safest way to make sure you're getting the BEST deal on your new car is to use the AutoSpies.com buying service." And don't forget, these schmos are out to win your dollars too. The ad also looks notoriously 'single tense' as in one at this price. Auto Spies is about as shady as any dealership that whores everything. Edited February 25, 2006 by kevinb120
bec5150
Saying that a dealer is selling for "$88 over invoice" isn't really "heavily discounted" in my book. I purchased both my Ford and Honda for a under invoice. It's all in how aggressive the dealer wants to be, or in my case, how aggressive the buyer wants to rake the dealer over. And no matter how good the Tahoo is, remember that we are talking about a full sized SUV trying to sell in a time of unstable gas prices. I don't care how good this vehicle is, it's not going to be as popular as it was when gas was consistantly under $2 But GM is true to their word on this one, not putting thousands on the hood or 0% financing to move the metal. I'm afraid this will be the same thing Ford dealers will be doing with the 07 Expedition next February.
DRODMOTORS
This is not from GM! This is the dealership, Midway GMC doing their own pricing. They're independent from GM and can set the price on their inventory as they see fit. It's no different than the Starbucks down the street advertising "$1 latte!" or your closest McDonald's saying "Big Macs only 99cents!" But I personally don't think GM will get away from the rebates. GM is the crackwhore of the industry, they're addicted and they'll whore out their way to bankruptcy.

Actually, Starbucks does not franchise their standalone stores, and the grocery store Starbucks (like McDonalds) are under pretty strict regs as far as pricing is concerned. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if GM isn't putting some dealer cash into these Tahoes. ...
RUMBLE TRUCK
This article, 2-25-06 in the Dallas Morning News, says the GM Arlington, TX assembly plant that makes the Tahoe is working OT to keep up with the demand: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...2.22da56f1.html

Plus, the sales figures referenced in the article didn't break out the 2007 models and the 2006 models. One month isn't enough to judge the success or failure of a particular model. PolarBear
The dealers that stocked low-end Tahoes are sitting on them. the way GM allocations work, they have to clear them out to earn new product. the hottest seller is a loaded LTZ with Roof and Nav, which stickers out for around $53ish. That particular combination is selling close to or over sticker, if you can find one.

I took delivery of my 05 Mustang GT in December 04 and paid less than sticker.
PolarBear
GM has low interest financing on all 2007 Tahoe, Yukon and Denalis. If you call 5.9 @ 60 months low interest- most credit unions and banks can beat that.

Seems logical. $2.30 gas takes less of a bite out of the wallet of a person who can afford a $53k vehicle than a $34k vehicle. Why would anyone (short of towing) buy the cheaper Tahoes/Expys anyway? ...
