FUD
Has anyone ever noticed how blatent a copy these are? 2006 Buick LaCrosse - 1999 Ford Taurus. 2006 Buick LuCerne - 2000-2004 Mercury Sable. They're almost as bad as the PT Cloned HHR.
01FOCI
Thats pretty funny, did some fired designer from the oval Taurus get hired at puick? Those buicks are flops unless your 65+ ...
Traveler
Believe it or not, I saw a LaCrosse today that had...the cloth carriage roof. Why is it that this old American styling trend will not die? I'm not saying that the LaCrosse is all that swoopy, but you can't imagine how ugly a roof like that is on this car.
bec5150
Oh yeah!?? Did your Taurus have heated windshield washer fluid? See how innovative GM is. :boring:
OrlandoGuy80
Oh yeah!?? Did your Taurus have heated windshield washer fluid? See how innovative GM is. :boring: I had to laugh at this. :P Being from Florida, someone from up north will have to tell me: is this actually something useful? I can imagine it being a nice little perk, but is it really something you would put in your advertising (as Buick has been doing?)
RichardJensen
I had to laugh at this. :P Being from Florida, someone from up north will have to tell me: is this actually something useful? I can imagine it being a nice little perk, but is it really something you would put in your advertising (as Buick has been doing?) Scraping your windshield is a PAIN IN THE BUTT. If you start your car and let it warm up, you don't usually have to scrape your windshield. Hence the hot washer fluid saves no time, effort, or inconvenience. However, if you don't let your car warm up, yes, you don't have to scrape your windshield, but you still have to scrape your side windows and your rear window (rear defrost doesn't work fast enough). So yeah, the hot washer fluid saves one of the annoying tasks of window scraping, but just one. You still have the back window which is usually as much of a pain, or more of one. ... PolarBear
I had a GM Rep in my office the first time i saw pictures of the new Buick Lacrosse. I was laughing pretty hard. If you're going to imitate something, reach high...... why copy a Taurus? She wasn't amused. At least it sells, but not in the numbers the old Regal (the car it replaced) did. Go figure. hwyman3
GM is just coming to the Retro party like everyone else, only GM is going back to the 90s. I mean they copied the Taurus and the Sable and the new Impalas look like the old Luminas from the 90s!
Michael Reynolds
Don't you guys mean the Allure? What really disappoints me is the lack of portholes. Edited February 21, 2006 by Michael Reynolds

For some reason I still think it wont make much of a difference...hell I have the chemically treated wiper fluid that is made for deicing and it still freezes on my windshield if I'm going over 10-15 mph. 630land
Welcome to two years ago, when people compared the LaCrosse to the Taurus. The Lucerne doesn't look like the Sable, more like a Lexus. And, the HHR, while not original, is selling. BTW: PT Crusier is not 'dead', at all.

Sorry 630land, but I don't see Lexus at all in the new Lucerne. I see a 6-year old Mercury clone....

PolarBear
It sure is, to rental car companies. Incorrect- we're back-ordered 4 months out on a retail level- and there is no fleet allocation. A number of them were introduced into the rental fleets on introduction as a form of indirect advertisement. Ford did the same thing with Mustangs, and both programs were successful. HHR's have been the hottest product in terms of "hard to get" factor since the C6 Corvette was introduced.

Kris Kolman
The HHR is the biggest surprise to me... But I think it's more indication that the small car buyer has been stuck with borring boxes for so long that a high stylized verhilce can win their hearts. think of what's been successful as of late: Beattle, PT, HHR, MINI... They emphasize style first and practicality second.
PolarBear
I actually wasn't. The HHR is cute and affordable. I don't think you can build over over $24,000 no matter what you hang on it, and most retail around $20,000. Kris has a very valid point in that last post- people are bored with the same just-like-me econoboxes.
