wind noise

I recently took my 2007 exp. into the dealer again for the wind noise coming from the front windows. I had asked if they performed the tsb on the door window run. They stated its coming from the mirrows instead and there is a new tsb for it. I was wondering does anyone have a copy of the new tsb for the mirrows.

While talking to the shop foreman about my brakes I asked him about the wind noise. He said they know it's a big problem. It occurs on the Explorers as well. Something to do with how the plastic mates to the metal. As of last week he did not know of a TSB, but he didn't look it up either. Anymore info would be great.

FORD: 2007 Expedition

LINCOLN: 2007 Navigator

ISSUE:

Some 2007 Expedition and Navigator vehicles built before 05/07/2007 may exhibit wind noise around the exterior driver and/or passenger doors. This may be most noticeable near the A-pillar area of the door.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE: IF THE VEHICLE BUILD DATE IS ON OR AFTER 5/07/2007, THIS TSB DOES NOT APPLY. CONTINUE WITH NORMAL WORKSHOP MANUAL DIAGNOSTICS.

Tape the trailing edge of the mirror sail down to the front window glass from the tip of the mirror sail to the belt molding.

If the noise goes away, replace the mirror on the effected side. Both mirrors do not have to be replaced.

If the noise does not go away, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04 diagnostics.

Thanks!

We are still having wind noise of the drivers side even after the dealer did the first TSB for the window trim stuff.

This sounds like I can tape up the outside mirrow to test, before I waste a trip to the dealer.

Can anybody suggest exactly what Ford means by trailing edge of the mirror sail??

And what kind of tape to use?

It's this part Window.jpg and I would use a wide masking tape, tan or the blue stuff. I am going to try it today.
