robertlane
http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../601280355/1148 Remarkable: "GM, Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group have seen their U.S. market share decline steadily over the last 10 years, from 72 percent in 1995 to 57 percent last year." ford-boy
I voted for Bush twice, but now I think he's an idiot. How could you be insensitive to all of the inequaties that face Detroit? Jeez. At least stop the exchange rate farce. This issue may change my vote from republican to democrat next election.

yamahaR1
Maybee Bush might help the big three as soon as we are done rebuilding Iraq Don't count on it. Maybe the BIG 3 should merge into the BIG 1, you know in this climate of all these mergers, if they do, at least then they can compete with Toyota. What is the once mighty union doing about 30,000 jobs lost and all the plant closings? Answer, nothing, because they have no power anymore and are a joke, good luck "Big 3", should be the "Small 3". To high taxes to much regulation to much political correctness in the Big 2 1/2.
jmorreau
Don't be mad at Honda and Toyota because while Ford and GM while cutting people and factorys to make money by making the cheapest product that nobody wants but they can make alot of money if they sold them.Honda and Toyota build cars that people want and they will build cars that the people want and they are taking control 1 car at atime. In other words while Ford and Gm won't build unless they sell 10000 Toyota and Honda are happy to sell 1 car because they are taking control 1 car at a time. So, it's Bush's fault Ford, GM, and DCX cannot build cars to compete with Honda and Toyota? Why SHOULD he bail them out? If my company goes under because of competition, is he going to bail us out? I don't think so! Ford has even said they don't want the government's help, which, I think, is very admirable.

People Like you, your part of the problem. You probably don't even drive an American vechile. People want Toyota and Honda because, at one time we were not the best at it. We have come along way in 20 years. We could give them a run for their money if people like you weren't constantly promoting them. If you do not work for one of the big 3, then shut up. The auto industry is one of the corner stones of our economy. When we go down it will take out several thousands of jobs from US workers. Stop thinking of yourself and try supporting the US people. I don't wish for anyone to lose their job not even YOU.
